Holistic Health
Send It was founded by Jamie Schou, an outdoor enthusiast from Truckee, California, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in 2012. During his two-year battle with cancer, he continued to embrace his love for adventure and the outdoors with a commitment to live each day to the fullest. Jamie started Send It one year before passing away in 2014. Today, we continue his legacy by providing young adult cancer fighters and survivors with incredible outdoor adventures and community.
In 2026, the Send It Foundation will host 17 free outdoor adventure programs for young adults (ages 21–40) impacted by cancer, including Ski & Ride, Climb & Pedal, Backpacking, Surf, and Mindfulness in the Mountains. Rooted in North Lake Tahoe, these multi-day experiences bring young adults from across the country together to reconnect with themselves, each other, and the outdoors through challenge, adventure, and community.
What makes these programs possible is the Tahoe community itself. From local gear shops and lodging partners to restaurants, guides, and mountain businesses, our programs are powered by a network of local partners who step up to make access possible. It’s mountain culture at its best: neighbors opening doors, sharing resources, and creating spaces where connection, healing, and belonging can take root.
